Configuring Windows98 for Hawk Communications dialup access.

 

  • Open the My Computer icon.
  • Double click on Dial-Up Networking


 
  • Double click Make New Connection.
  • Enter Hawk Communications in the name field then click Next.

 

 

  • Type the area code and phone number of a Hawk Communications dialup that is LOCAL to you. (Refer to the dialup list or our website http://www.hawkcommunications.com/). Click Next.
  • You are now finished with the setup wizard. Click Finish.

 

  • After the setup wizard has completed it will create a Hawk Communications icon (in Dial-Up Networking). Highlight the Hawk Communications icon, click FILE then PROPERTIES.
  • Click the Server Types tab. Uncheck ‘Log On to the Network’, ‘NetBEUI’ and ‘IPX/SPX’.
  • Now click TCP/IP Settings.

 

 

  • Click 'Server assigned name server addresses'.
  • After clicking OK twice you will be put back into Dial-Up Networking.
  • To connect, double click the Hawk Communications Icon, enter your USERNAME and PASSWORD (in lowercase only), make sure SAVE PASSWORD IS CHECKED then click CONNECT.
  • After a minute or two you will be connected to Hawk Communications. Open your web browser (Internet explorer, Netscape, etc…)
